New spy shots showing the SouEast DX7 SUV completely naked in China. The SouEast DX7 debuted as the SouEast R7 concept on the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. The production version will debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show in December and launch on the Chinese car market in early 2015. Price will start around 120.000 yuan and end around 160.000 yuan.
The SouEast R7 concept on the Beijing show.
The DX7 appears to be a very well-designed vehicle, probably the best looking SouEast-branded car so far. Some Hyundai influences here and there but overall original.
The DX7 is a full-size seven seat SUV. SouEast is also working on a smaller variant with five seats, which will be called SouEast R5 DX5. The DX7 and DX5 will be powered by 1.8 liter and 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines, good for about 180hp and 220hp, mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.
Grille looks very hip but bars need to be all-chrome for a proper effect.

We haven’t heard whether Dongfeng intends to increase its new share of Soueast, and parent Fujian Auto. Some two years has passed and all has been quiet about who has control of this minor player. Outside of its protected market in Fujian, does anybody really care?
