China’s southern city of Shenzhen said on Monday that it would restrict sales of new cars, joining major cities including Shanghai and Beijing in an escalating war against smog and snarling traffic.
More Chinese cities are expected to follow suit, adding woe to China’s already slowing auto market, and increasing pressure on carmakers such as General Motors Co and Volkswagen AG to accelerate expansion in China’s less affluent, but less crowded western cities.

The new Changan Eado EV will be launched on the Chinese EV market in January 2015. The Eado EV is an electric vehicle for China based on the Changan Eado sedan. Price will start around 290.000 yuan before green car subsidies from central and local governments. Subsidies on a vehicle like the Eado EV can be as much as 90.000 yuan ($14.460) so sticker price at the dealer will be some 200.000 yuan ($32.140).

The new Yema T70 SUV, eagerly awaited by Yema dealers throughout China, will be launched on the Chinese car market in March 2015. The T70 is an entirely new vehicle standing on a brand new platform, and that doesn’t happen very often at Yema. Design is a curious mix combining influences from Range Rover, Volkswagen and Audi. Nevertheless, this is the best looking Yema ever.

The very first photos showing the new Kia KX3 SUV naked from all sides in China. The Kia KX3 is a new China-only compact SUV based on the same platform as the Hyundai ix25, but aimed at a younger and hipper audience. The KX3 debuted as a concept on the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show. The production version will hit the Chinese car market in March, price will start around 110.000 and end around 170.000 yuan.

China’s MG has released the first official images of the new MG GTS SUV, formerly known as the MG CS SUV. The orange car on the official images stands on super large tires nicely filling the wheel arches. The real thing however won’t look so good. The MG GTS will be launched on the Chinese car market in the first half of 2015. Price will start around 120.000 yuan and end around 160.000 yuan.

New Spy Shots of the Brilliance V3, a new compact SUV with a daring design. The Brilliance V3 has been delayed for some time and is now expected to launch on the Chinese car market in the first quarter of 2015. The V3 will be positioned below the rather more conservative Brilliance V5 SUV, price will range from around 80.000 to 120.000 yuan.

The new Chevrolet Sail 3 has been launched on the Chinese auto market, giving General Motors an updated competitor in the booming sub-compact sedan segment in China. Price starts at 59.900 yuan and ends at 73.900 yuan ($9600 – 118.700). The ‘3’ referring to the ‘third generation’ Sail in China, although this 3 is more of a facelift of the second generation than an entirely new car, and the Chinese Sail started life as a Buick, not as a Chevy.

The new Qoros 3 City SUV has been launched on the Chinese auto market, giving the Qoros brand a sorta hip vehicle in the hyper competitive compact crossover segment in China. Price for the City SUV starts at 139.900 yuan and ends at 179.900 yuan ($22.470 – 28.900). The Qoros 3 City SUV debuted in November on the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show.
