Great Wall Motor’s Wey Gaoshan plug-in hybrid MPV will launch on October 18

Today, October 12, Great Wall Motor’s Wey brand announced that its Gaoshan DHT-PHEV MPV will be officially launched on October 18 in China. The Gaoshan targets the high-end MPV market in the 350,000 – 400,000 yuan (47,900 – 55,000 USD) segment. Pre-sale was opened at the Chengdu Auto Show in August. Customers who put down a 1,000 yuan (137 USD) deposit can further enjoy a 10,000 yuan discount.

Positioned as a medium-to-large MPV, Wey Gaoshan measures 5045/1960/1900 mm, and the wheelbase is 3085 mm, and adopts a 2+2+3 seven-seater layout. There is even an onboard 12.5-liter (equivalent to 14 can-sized drinks) refrigerator that can be opened from the top or pulled out from behind the first row.

Furthermore, the zero-gravity massage seats come standard with ventilation and heating functions. The maximum leg space in the second row reaches 1166 mm. The third row can be folded down to maximize the trunk storage volume to go up to 1725 liters.

Coming to the front face, the straight waterfall grille is powerful and bold. The Wey brand logo is embedded at the center of the grille, which is integrated into the headlights on both sides.

The roof adopts a suspended design. Chrome elements are added throughout the exterior for embellishment. The rear has a spoiler, high-mounted brake lights, through-type taillights, and two decorative exhaust outlet outlines. The WEY letters are printed below the taillights.

The Wey Gaoshan runs on multi-spoke rims and 245/50 R18 tires.

Inside, the interior is equipped with a dual-screen composed of a 12.5-inch central control screen and a 12.5-inch instrument panel, coupled with a three-spoke round multi-function steering wheel.

Other configurations include a 15-inch W-HUD (head-up display), wireless charging panels for mobile phones on the center console, and 11 USB ports throughout the interior.

The powertrain is composed of a plug-in hybrid system, consisting of a 1.5T turbocharged engine and an electric motor. The engine has a maximum power of 115 kW. When combined with the 135 kW rear axle motor, the comprehensive system power and torque are as high as 358 kW and 762 Nm, respectively. The 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is 5.7 seconds. Its 37.96 kWh ternary lithium battery pack supplied by Honeycomb Energy provides a 175 km pure electric cruising range (CLTC). Fast charging is also supported in that it only takes 26 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.
