The brand was established in 2017, initially named GAC New Energy, and then officially changed its name to GAC Aion in 2021. Currently, GAC Aion has two smart factories, and its third factory in Changsha is also under preparation. The factory is expected to be put into use in June 2024, by that time, GAC Aion’s production capacity will reach 800,000 vehicles per year.

In recent years, GAC Aion’s sales have increased significantly. Its sales from 2019 to 2022 were 42,003, 60,033, 120,155, and 271,156 vehicles, respectively, doubling almost every year.
