On February 22nd, Chinese smart electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng announced a strategic partnership with UAE-based distributor group Ali & Sons, marking a milestone in the company’s international growth strategy. Early last year, Xpeng announced its entry into the parts of the European market, and 2024 is proving to be the year it also aims for the Middle East. As part of its “Go Abroad 2.0” strategy, Xpeng is attempting to attract an increasing number of overseas distributors who share the vision of delivering their technology in smart electric vehicles to local consumers.

Xpeng has already established strategic partnerships with distributor groups in the Middle East and Africa, including Ali & Sons in the UAE, RAYA Group in Egypt, SR Group in Azerbaijan, T Gargour & Fils Group in Jordan, and Gargour Asia SAL Group in Lebanon. Starting from the second quarter, Xpeng’s diverse range of vehicle models will be available for sale and delivery in five countries across the Middle East and Africa region.

Led by Vice Chairman and Co-President Gu Hongdi and Ali & Sons’ Founder and Chairman H.E. Ali bin Khalfan Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, Xpeng is leveraging its product portfolio and technology to accelerate its overseas market expansion. Following the strategic partnership with distributor groups in the Middle East and Africa this year, Xpeng plans to sell the Xpeng G6 and G9 SUV models in Jordan and Lebanon in the second quarter and the UAE and Egypt in the third quarter. In September last year, it was revealed that the G9 would be sold in Sweden.

Tang Zhikun, General Manager of Xpeng’s International Business department, stated, “The new markets we are announcing today are recognized as the core of the new energy vehicle market growth and represent a visionary step for Xpeng’s entry into the EMEA market. Our goal is to become an industry leader in intelligent electric vehicles. We are committed not only to developing products that meet local customer needs but also to delivering leading technology experiences and high-quality services to global customers.”

Moreover, Xpeng aims to expand its presence in other European markets, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, and France, throughout this year. By focusing on Europe and now the potential markets in the Middle East and Africa, Xpeng plans to introduce more adapted vehicle models to increase sales and market share in 2024.

As the expansion of intelligent driving vehicles continues to grow, industry experts predict that China’s passenger car exports may reach 5 million units in 2024. Xpeng plans to capitalize on that growth by accelerating its “Go Abroad 2.0” strategy. We will keep a close eye on what further partnerships await Xpeng on the international stage.
