The Neta L EV crossover (see specs) from Hozon Auto has entered the Chinese market with a starting price of 139,900 yuan (19,300 USD). It is a five-seat SUV with a CATL’s Shenxing LFP battery for 510 km range and a single e-motor in the rear axle for 227 hp.
Neta is a Chinese NEV mainstream brand launched in 2018 by Hozon Auto. It currently sells five models: Aya, X, S, GT, and L. The newest car from Neta is the L crossover. It was initially launched as an EREV (range extender) in April this year. In two months, Neta delivered 5,500 units of Neta L. And now, the all-electric variant of the L SUV has entered China.
Neta L EV specs
In terms of appearance, the Neta L EV stays in line with the EREV variant. It L has LED headlights, retractable door handles, a slanted roofline, and a single taillight unit. Dimensions of the Neta L EV are 4770/1900/1660 mm with a wheelbase of 2810 mm.
Inside, the entry-level Neta L has a single 15.6-inch screen and a small LCD screen mounted behind the D-shaped steering. The gear shifter hides behind the wheel. There are two cup holders and a wireless charging pad in the center tunnel of the Neta L. The top-trim level adopts a single cluster made of two 15.6-inch monitors. It looks quite similar to Li Auto cars. The L SUV also has 16 speakers, a fridge, and a folded table in the front passenger seat.
The Neta L EV has a 170-kW (227 hp) electric motor in the rear axle. Its peak torque reaches 310 Nm. This electric crossover speeds up to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. CATL’s Shenxing LFP battery pack for 68 kWh powers the electric motor. The Neta L can run up to 510 km on a single charge. It can be charged from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes. For clarity, the top-trim Neta L EREV has a 30-kWh pack from CATL for 210 km. A mixed range reaches 1300 km.
Neta L EV prices
The Neta L EV has three trim levels within a price range of 139,900 – 162,900 yuan (19,300 – 22,400 USD). It has appeared to be fairly affordable since the EREV variant of this SUV costs 129,900 – 159,900 yuan (17,900 – 22,000 USD). However, Neta currently struggles to raise its credibility among Chinese customers. It started as a cheap car maker back in 2018. And now it slowly moves upmarket, increasing the price of its cars.
The Neta L EV can increase the demand for this model. However, it seems the EREV variant still will be more popular due to a mixed range of 1300 km, and a bit cheaper price. This year, Neta L will launch overseas. One of the key markets for this car is UAE.
