The Trumpchi Emkoo stands on the GPMA (GAC Global Platform Modular Architecture) modular platform, developed by GAC.

Customers can choose from eight trims. The entry-level trim comprised of a 1.5-liter 4A15J2 turbocharged petrol-powered engine for 177hp & 270Nm with fuel consumption of 7L/100km and a top speed of 190km/h, matching with 7WDCT. The price range of this version lies between 119,800 – 142,800 RMB (16,800 – 20,000 USD).

The more powerful Trumpchi Emkoo is equipped with a 2.0-liter 4B20J1 ICE for 252hp and 400Nm matched with 8AT with fuel consumption of 8.1L/100km. The Emkoo 2.0T costs 142,800 – 152,800 RMB (20,000 – 21,400 USD).

The hybrid Emkoo is comprised of the GMC 2.0 system, developed by GAC and Toyota. This system consists of a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated AB20L1 engine for 140hp and 180Nm. It works with an electric motor and 2DHT with a system power output of 238hp. Note that the Emkoo isn’t PHEV, so you can’t charge it with a plug. Moreover, its battery has a capacity of just 2.1 kWh and fuel consumption of 4.76 L/100km. The hybrid costs 149,800 – 169,800 RMB (21,000 – 23,800 USD).

The size of the car is 4680/1901/1670mm with a 2750mm wheelbase. From the side, the overall appearance looks angular with a strong shoulder line and twin diagonal creases. The car also comes with hidden door handles and a rear spoiler.

The car runs on aerodynamic alloy wheels to help improve efficiency.

In the front, the upper and lower grilles form an “X” shape. The angular, matrix-style headlamp units further enhance the technological atmosphere of the car.

In the rear, the vertical taillights run up the back window and diagonally down into the flanks. A deep cavity for the number plate sits underneath the GAC logo, while at the bottom, a two-tone bare plastic and silver-colored bumper house a meaty-looking twin exhaust on either side of a mock diffuser.

The interior gives a sci-fi vibe with predominantly black and metal/silver features. It comes with a sporty D-shaped three-spoke steering wheel, a 7-inch instrument panel for the entry-level trim and a 10.25-inch instrument panel for the higher trim, and a 14.6-inch central control screen. The center console features large cupholders, possibly a wireless charging pad, and a ‘crystal’ gear selector alongside other metallic trim.

The 14.6-inch central control screen is integrated with the ADiGO 5.0 intelligent driving system, with brainpower coming from the Snapdragon 8155 chip.

The sunroof brings in lots of natural light.

The sound system is comprised of Yamaha speakers, with additional speakers mounted in the front seat headrests to give an extra dimension of sound. But this is an optional extra for every trim level. The entry-level Emkoo comes standard with 6 speakers while the top-trim comes with 8 speakers.

In the images above, a 171cm (5-feet and 6-inches) tall rider has a free headspace of two fist sizes while sitting in the driver’s seat and one fist size while sitting in the second row.
