Lynk & Co, a collaborative venture between Geely and Volvo, is on the brink of introducing its 2024 edition of the 09 EM-P SUV, on January 16, 2024. This development marks another stride in the evolution of the brand, rooted in a partnership between Geely and Volvo (acquired by Geely in 2010) that began in 2016.

Founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2016, Lynk & Co is currently headquartered in China. Lynk & Co’s domestic model lineup in China comprises seven distinct vehicles – the 01, 02, 03, 05, 06, 08, 09 (including its forthcoming 09 EM-P). The brand’s presence in overseas markets is simplified, with the Lynk & Co 01 taking the spotlight as the sole offering.

The current version of the 09 was originally introduced in mid-2023. Positioned as a large SUV, the vehicle boasts hefty dimensions of 5042/1977/1780mm and a wheelbase of 2984mm. The design incorporates blackened B and C pillars, creating a suspended roof effect. The SUV rides on ten-spoke rims, a feature that remains unchanged from its predecessor. However, the 2024 09 EM-P edition showcases significant improvements.

The 09 EM-P differentiates itself with a plug-in hybrid system featuring the 187-kW Drive-E 2.0TD engine and three electric motors coupled with a 3-speed DHT gearbox. This powerful combination yields a system’s maximum power of 408kW, providing an impressive 4.9-second acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h.

For comparison, the 2023 edition had 382kW of peek power and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds. The CLTC (China’s standardized testing) pure electric range reaches 190km. The 09 EM-P features a dual-chamber air suspension system. The adaptability extends further with adjustable ground clearance, catering to diverse driving conditions.

The Lynk & Co 09 EM-P SUV’s technical specifications place it in a landscape where consumers seek a balance between performance and sustainability. As the automotive industry evolves, the adaptability and eco-friendly features of the 2024 edition 09 EM-P reflect a broader shift in consumer preferences. The true measure of its impact will be observed on the road after January 16, as real-world feedback, sales performance, and consumer reactions determine its standing in the market. The 09 EM-P will be priced between 300,000 and 400,000 yuan (42,300 – 56,400 USD).

  1. Not an EV (100% electric).
This is a hybrid with a combustion engine to produce the electricity. Please notice the difference. 🙂
Some call EV’s BEV. Too many names for the same thing.
