The new FAW Oulang will debut early next week at the Guangzhou Auto Show. It has a heck of a history. It was born as FAW Besturn B30, that went through a redesign inspired by the FAW Go concept car, then came back as FAW-Oulai xxx. FAW was by that moment planning to make Oulai a new entry-level sub-brand. That plan now seems gone. Name changed again, Oulai became Oulang and the new car was simply placed under the FAW brand. So here it is, the FAW Oulang.
And now, ain’t it a looker! By and the way: the vehicle’s English name is Oley.

This is the very first pic of the upcoming FAW-Oulai B30 (fka FAW-Besturn B30) all naked in China. Compared with earlier spy shots the front has changed a lot, for the better me think, in line with the sharp front end of the FAW-Go concept car from the Shanghai Auto Show. The production version of the B30 will likely debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show in late November.

The FAW-Oulai B30 will be the first car of FAW’s new Oulai brand and was formerly known as FAW-Besturn B30. FAW has been working for two long years on the B30 which is based on the ancient PQ35 platform that underpins the FAW-Volkswagen Jetta. Recent spy shots show that the B30 got a new front inspired by the FAW GO concept car.

The best spy shots so far from the new FAW-Oulai B30, formerly known as FAW-Besturn B30. ‘Oulai’ will be a new brand for entry-level cars, the B30 will be the first one. New spy shots clearly show that the B30 got a new front inspired by the FAW GO concept car. Spy shots also clearly show that the B30 is a completely different car than the GO. The GO is a sporty 4-door coupe that will see production in 2012. The B30 is a cheap sedan for the masses.

Chinese automakers love to have as many different brands as they can. They think that loox modern, like Volkswagen. Car on the new spy shots was formerly known as the FAW-Besturn B30. The B30 was to be the smallest Besturn but it will not become a Besturn after all. FAW will instead launch a new Oulai-brand for cheap cars. The B30, likely named differently, will be the first Oulai.
The B30/Oulai 1 had a difficult development. FAW’s board didn’t like the loox so the designers had to do something about it. Car on pics got a new nose in line with the very cool FAW Go concept car we saw at the Shanghai Auto Show. Rest of the car didn’t change much.
