The Lifan 620 EV, Electric Vehicle, debuted at the Beijing Auto Show. The pure electric green machine is now in use as a special police vehicle at the Shanghai World Expo. The 620EV has a range of 160 kilometer, a top speed of 100 km/h and 8 hours charging time on 220v. A ‘supercharger’, the word will get a whole new meaning, can charge 80% of the battery in 30 minutens, but nowbody got those at home yet.

The city of Shanghai though is serious about the electric future, it plans a whole lot of pilot projects with superchargers on public places. Problem is that car manufacturers all use different standards so they can’t get charged on one anothers supercharger.

Beijing tries to solve that by simply working together with only one brand: Beijing Auto, from Beijing indeed. No such plans for Shanghai yet but I guess Shanghai Auto would like to be the only one. That will likely mean the end of the Lifan 620 EV in Shanghai, but anyway, the policecars charge on the normal 220v…
