New Toyota Prius to be Imported to China

Toyota made the old Prius in China at the FAW-Toyota joint venture. Sales however were much lower than expected, to say the least. The Chinese government then decided to exclude foreign branded vehicles from subsidies for hybrids. Toyota so decided to end Prius-production in China and to sell the new generation as an import only. But because it is an import it won’t be cheap; Toyota expects to sell it for 200.000 yuan when listed early next year. Sales likely won’t improve…
