This is the new Chery EQ, a new full-electric vehicle based on the new Chery QQ. The Chery EQ will be launched on the China car market in the second half of this year. Power will come from an electric motor with a very decent 56hp. Price for the Chery EQ will start around 80.000 yuan but subsidies of central and local governments can bring that down to some 50.000 yuan.

A smiling Chery QQ3, seen in the great city of Xi’an in Shaanxi Province. The QQ3 is a fine vehicle, motoring on the cheap, but for some that ain’t enough. The owner of this particular blue vehicle slapped a BMW badge and a hood scoop on the bonnet which he then painted black. Back home in the village some will be duly impressed, but We Don’t Buy It!

A very wrecked Chery QQ3 seen on a high-speed highway near the great city of Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province. The back of the vehicle was hit hard, with all doors, lights and bumpers gone. Miraculously however the good QQ still works, carrying four persons in comfort, breathing fresh air on a summer’s day. The Chery QQ is indeed a strong car due to its very simple and basic setup, there simply ain’t too much that can break down. Chery launched the new QQ in March but production of the old QQ continues until today.

The new Chery QQ has been launched on the Chinese car market, price starts at 37.900 yuan and ends at 50.900 yuan. Power comes from a 69hp 3-cylinder mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. The new QQ is the successor of the iconic Chery QQ/Chery QQ3. The new QQ is of a completely new design with an especially eye catching ‘smiling front’.

Production of the new Chery QQ (not QQ5) started earlier this week. Chery organized a fine ceremony at the factory which was kinda semi-secret so we didn’t see that much of the new QQ. Fortunately we found an extra load of pics from the same even, including this interesting photo where a real worker, helmet still on his head, drives the first Chery QQ of the line, while a manager-sorta-man is waving a red flag.
