On Friday the 2016 Chengdu Auto Show will start in China. It is the third biggest show in country, after Beijing/Shanghai and Guangzhou. There will be shiploads of new cars and we will be at the show to check them all out. But for those who cannot wait we have a preview, starting with the new China-only Honda Gienia.
New Spy Shots of the 2017 Land Rover Discovery in China, revealing most of its lights, grille, and bumpers. The new Discovery will debut on the Paris Auto Show in October and launch in early 2017. It will be made in England and in China by the Chery-JLR joint venture.
TebTech, the company behind the controversial straddling bus, has found a new way to earn a bit of extra cash; they have opened a web shop selling commemorative gold coins, commemorating the test with the TEB-1 straddling bus. The company claims the coins have a “high investment and collection value”.
A dramatic supercar crash in China. A silver Ferrari 488 crashed into the left-rear of a white Ferrari 488, before crashing into a guardrail on a road in the great city of Lijiang in Yunnen Province. The crash, according to Chinese media, was caused by a dog suddenly crossing the road. The white 488 hit the brakes, and they silver one couldn’t avoid a bang.
New photos of the upcoming Dongfeng Fengdu MX5 SUV for China. It will debut later this week on the Chengdu Auto Show and launch on the Chinese car market in Q4. Price will range from 90.000 to 120.000 yuan. Fengdu (风度) is a new sub-brand of Dongfeng Automobile. Their first car was the Fengdu MX6, and a smaller Fengdu MX3 will follow in 2017.
This is the new SouEast DX3, a new and sharp looking compact SUV for China. The DX3 is the production version of the SouEast DX Concept. It will debut later this week on the Chengdu Auto Show and launch on the Chinese car market in November.
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class L has been launched on the Chinese car market. Price starts at 436.800 yuan and ends at 498.800 yuan. The E-Class L is a long-wheelbase variant of the E-Class sedan, manufactured in China by the Beijing-Benz joint venture. There will be two variants: the standard car and a Sport, with a sporty grille and wheels. The car on the photos is an E300L Sport.
A new flock of photos of the new Chevrolet Cavalier for China, it will be launched on the Chinese car market on September 2 during the Chengdu Auto Show. The Cavalier is not entirely new. It is basically the previous generation Chevrolet Cruze sedan in a new skin.
This is the Zhongxing Terralord, a new mid size pickup truck from China. Terralord is the best pickup truck name ever; period. The Terralord is the largest truck so far for Zhongxing, a brand with a knack for pretty names. They also sell the Tiger and the Little Tiger, and they used to sell the Urban Ark (name changed to C3) and the Admiral.
Spectacular Spy Shots showing the all new Volkswagen Teramont SUV completely naked in China, inside and out. The Teramont is the production version of the Volkswagen CrossBlue concept. It is a large seven-seat SUV that will be positioned between the Tiguan and the Touareg. The Teramont will debut in November on the L.A. Auto Show in the U.S. and on the Guangzhou Auto Show in China.
